Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye.

ad campaign

When we first arrived here in Oberursel, we noticed several ads at the bus and train stations promoting condom usage. Most involved various fruits or vegetables sporting condoms but, while we understood the gyst of the messages, we didn't have enough German to read the ads.
Recently, another round of ads have appeared. They are targeting ALL walks of life! This one is trying to reach the business professionals and is at the bus station right next to the supermarket. Another at the train station was after the more erotic crowd with red satin, black stilleto heels, black lace undies, and a black leather jacket. At another train stop, the ad is geared for teenagers - typical messy room with Converse tennis shoes, jeans, an Ipod/headphones, and a girl's sweater.
Basically, the ad says to "tie" or limit your contact and the risk of aids is nothing. At the bottom, it says to "Give AIDS no chance" and "Take part" (not exactly sure about the last one). The nurse at my school and I were talking about teenage pregnancy rates here in Germany the other day. She says the pregnancy rate dropped drastically about 10-15 years ago when these ad campaigns against AIDS started running. Hmmmmm! Maybe teens DO actually listen! Of course, a picture is worth a thousand words.
