If the caretaker of the apartment building is called the Hausmeister (pronounced "house miester" - refer to the German pronunciation lesson in a previous post), what is the head of the Rathaus called? It would have been too perfect if s/he were called the Ratmeister :) but, alas, no. The mayor of the town is referred to as the Burgermeister! What do those rats at city hall do all day? It makes one wonder!!!
