we're on our way, we're on our way home

Yippee!!!

We leave for Oregon early tomorrow morning - our flight leaves Frankfurt at 10 am and arrives in Portland before noon. I LOVE flying westward.

Of course, those who know us well know there is always another story...

We were supposed to fly out on Sunday, giving us a leisurely day to pack and clean the house (and most importanly, attend the monthly Oberursel flea market). I checked the flights online to reacquaint myself with the departure time since we had booked the flight six or seven months ago. Hmmmm, something did not look quite right. Why did the flight chart only have the little plane icon on Saturday and Monday and NOT Sunday? I decided to call Lufthansa. After they finally found our reservation I was told that "Yes, you are still confirmed to Portland on the 21st." I voiced my concern about the missing plane icon on the website and the agent humored me and investigated a little further. "You're right, we have no flight on Sunday and you've been bumped to Monday!" No explanation about when we were going to be informed - when we arrived at the airport on Sunday most likely. Since Jessica is flying to California on Monday (before we would arrive, of course), the agent happily rebooked us on the Saturday flight. Whew!

Now we have time to visit Shachaf and my Uncle Gordon and Aunt Deena Rae in Portland before heading for Pendleton. We are planning to arrive in Madras around the 28th but still don't have definite plans. We will be there for New Year's and Lorene is organizing some sort of get-together!! So, if you don't hear from her, give her a call or just come by her house on New Year's Eve. She said I could post an open invitation :).

You guys don't have to do anything special - we don't need ticker tape parades or fireworks displays or anything like that. Just come by Lorene's between the 28th and the 1st and say "Hello!"
