My mom and I were invited to the housing area of the consulate employees for the festivities. However, we missed the barbeque at noon thinking they would grill more food for dinner. Alas, no - we ended up ordering from the Field House diner (Fajitas for me and a cheeseburger for mom). The husband of one of the first grade teachers from my school works for the consulate but they are being sent back to DC this summer. She hung out with us until the remaining crowd fizzled then mom and I went to the Main River to check things out. There were fireworks on the base at Weisbaden but we didn't have access :(.
