our apartment

From the outside: In Germany, the ground floor is EG, the second floor is 1, and so on. So, while the directory on the front of the building says "2", we are actually on the 3rd level. The Szebestas (the couple from the Czech Republic with 2 dogs) live above us on the top floor and the Maiwalds (the Germans who speak English and also have 2 dogs) live right below us. The crazy HausMeister lives on the bottom floor.

When you get off the elevator, turn right. You can see a plant peeking around the corner-one of the neighbors has a green thumb. I don't know anyone else on this floor (there are 3 apts on each floor).











The view from the dining area window. You can see the parking area of the apartment. There is a small green area to the left (you can't really see it) where I take Zizou when he has to "go". Hohemarkstrasse is right on the other side of the trees and beyond that is the UBahn 3 line (you can see the green train) that runs from Frankfurt through Oberursel to the end of the line right by my school. To the right, on the otherside of the street and across the train tracks is the supermarket where we shop. There is a small bookstore, tobacco store (that also sells school supplies, lottery tickets, magazines, etc. and is also a satellite location for the post office), cafe (that sells Wasem wine), and pharmacy. We have everything we need right nearby!
